The 2018 Fat Tire Downhill is brought to you by Progressive Trail Design (PTD). The PTD Downhill is the epitome of DH racing in this region of the country. The event is held on the year round publicly open Lake Leatherwood Downhill Challenge Trail. The trail features technical features, rock drops, jumps, and rock gardens. There are roll around options for beginners however the main lines will shed a lot of seconds and deserve serious consideration. All together though someone on a standard mountain bike with basic skills can negotiate all of this course and trail. Full face helmets are mandatory!

Best of two runs. Categories and classes run in descending sequence starting with Cat 1’s with one minute intervals between riders.
Register online or at the short track registration Friday night to be eligible for any of the Omni Challenges. This does not apply to the Downhill Duo which will be available Friday evening at the Short Track and again Saturday morning at the downhill registration.
Leave your vehicle parked at the bottom at Lake Leatherwood City Park.
Shuttles provided for racers during practice and prior to race start. Give yourself and your bike a lift to the top of the downhill course.

The course is approximately 1 mile long. Times range from 2-3 minutes. The terrain is predominately loose gravel and hard pack clay. All technical trail features are marked with the international accepted difficulty markings. Features include doubles, table tops, step ups, step downs, rock drops, ledge drops, rock gardens, and of lots of berms. A big 18 foot finish line double ends the run. There are no joke big hit features on this course however roll around options and alternate lines are there and allow for any rider with basic skills to negotiate the course. Get a 2 second time bonus for hitting the finish line gap! Full face helmets mandatory!
